Week 2.

I've gotten through the second week of university (yay me). So far if university life has taught me anything, it's to be independent. Unlike any other year in school I've had in my life, for the first time in my education I don't have a class to go around school with, to eat with, to study with. It's a new experience for me and I'm sure for every other freshman too.

I have a kind of love-hate relationship with the amount of freedom that university gives. I get to choose my own modules, arrange my own timetable, decide what talks I want / don't want to go for, and I decide whether to even go for lectures / tutorials or not. I've been granted so much freedom in what I do that at times I'm not sure what to do with myself. Gone are the days where we have combined flag raising and saying the pledge, gone are the days where we are forced to stand at attention to listen to announcements being read out. We are left to tend to ourselves. And it's because of this freedom that sometimes I find myself having no one to eat with, things to do but no one to do them with, etc. Those are the lonely days.

I'm pretty glad with how my schedule turned out for this semester - I have a 3-day weekend! Which is great because that gives me more time to read up before the next lesson and also gives me more rest time. I do like my modules as well, though the group work projects and the members in some of my groups seem a little daunting. But I hope to keep an open mind throughout and just learn as I go. Like I said I plan to make the most out of my university days, stepping out of my comfort zone to experience new things and to grow before I go out into the working world.
